I’ve been remiss November 4, 2010

Posted by mareserinitatis in Uncategorized.

Things have been slow in blog-land because they’ve been fast everywhere else in my life right now. I’ll start by saying a have a cool blog post or two in the works on solar physics. I hope they’ll be done soon.

What have I been doing?

• I am trying to hone my racewalking skills, which are fairly minimal at this point, because I want to try to do the 10K or half marathon at the Fargo Marathon next spring. (Planning ahead, right?)

• I am practicing my violin somewhat irregularly, which is better than very irregularly.

• I finished up the book chapter on ESD and RFID. It should be out next spring.

• I am trying to help my older boy with his homeschooling, but I am also trying not to help him too much. Being a teenager, I’m trying to get him to be responsible for his education as that will be the expectation at college. There will probably be a whole post about this later (or sooner).

• I have been trying to make headway on that dissertation thing.

• And finally, I have been busy working. I have learned a lot about IC packaging over the past couple months. I am also still doing some antenna work, although that looks like it might become more busy. In fact, I have about half a dozen tasks that I am trying to get done. However, I am trying to make sure that my dissertation doesn’t fall by the wayside, either. I imagine it’s a lot easier to make progress when your dissertation and your work are essentially the same thing.

The good news is that I have been thinking about things to write about. And when I find some time, I’ll hopefully get them written.

So what have you been up to?

Hey, Mentor Graphics is giving a series of seminars on RFID, packaging, etc. I may listen in on a couple of them. Of course, they’re trying to sell their own 3D EM simulator with these seminars.
