Twelve months of FCIWYPSC December 11, 2010

The rules for this blog meme are quite simple.
-Post the link and first sentence from the first blog entry for each month of the past year.

I started in my new blog location mid-year, so I’m cheating and stealing stuff from the old blog prior to that.

January:
A friend of mine, who claims not to be a mathematician, said he would like me to help him learn some signal processing.

February:
The older boy has problems with falling asleep.

March:
The Feynman Algorithm: 1. Write down the problem. 2. Think real hard. 3. Write down the solution.

April:
I’m not sure which is better: when I have spring break or when the older boy does.

May:
Not quite halfway between Fargo and Minneapolis is an old, rather battered looking train bridge that runs over I-94.

June:
I got my student evals for spring semester today.

July:
Welcome to the new blog.

August:
As I was standing in line at the grocery store, waiting for the new checker to figure out what she was doing, I saw that Time magazine had a cover article titled The Case Against Summer Vacation.

September:
Today, a friend sent me a link to this PhD comic, asking if it was true:

October:
This weekend, I went on a hike that involved something terrifying:

November:
Things have been slow in blog-land because they’ve been fast everywhere else in my life right now.

December:
I’ve been knee-deep in journal articles covering at least three different topics, all of which are very different in focus.
