I hate wearing braces. I really do.
One thing I hate about them is the assumption I sometimes run into: braces are just cosmetic.
If someone is putting themselves through awful pain every other month for a period of 2-4 years and paying enough for a reasonably nice used car, you’ll be able to tell if they’re doing it for the looks. A good rule of thumb: engineers probably aren’t going to be.
I really don’t want braces, but I was forced into it by some rather hosed up teeth. And I don’t mean that I had a single tooth that was a bit crooked…
I dread trips to the orthodontist’s office. All of the techs are sweet and lovely…and they smile giddily as they’re cranking and snipping wires and yanking on your brackets. The happiest one is almost always the most scary.
On the up side, I have an excuse to eat ice cream for dinner once in a while. Although when I ordered my pumpkin pie blizzard tonight, I had to ask them to leave out the crust pieces. Unfortunately, I’m sure the scale won’t be talking to me tomorrow. Probably won’t matter…this time, she cranked so hard that I’m going to be on a liquid diet for a week this time.
I think @MissMSE hit the nail on the head with this one…although it was painful to watch.
